Vostro was Dell’s laptop range for small businesses: practical, affordable machines without the extras of a Latitude. Dell has since phased the name out, but there are a great many Vostros still in daily use, and most faults are well worth repairing. Laptop assessment is £45 + VAT and you’ll get a fixed quote before any work.
Models we repair
- Vostro 3000 series – including the Vostro 3510, 3520 and 3530 (15-inch) and 3420 and 3430 (14-inch).
- Vostro 5000 series – including the Vostro 5410, 5510, 5620 and 5630.
- Earlier Vostros – models such as the Vostro 3500, 5402 and 5502, and the older 3000 and 5000 generations.

Common faults we fix
- Charging port and DC jack faults – the charger only works at an angle, or the laptop won’t charge at all.
- Battery wear – a few years of daily use leaves many Vostros needing to stay plugged in.
- Cracked or dim screens – replaced with the correct panel for your model.
- Keyboard faults – worn, sticky or dead keys, often after a drink spill at a desk.
- Slow start-up or failing storage – older Vostros with hard drives benefit hugely from an SSD; failed SSDs are replaced and data moved across.
- Broken hinges – plastic hinge mounts on the 3000 series can crack and lift the bezel.
- No power – board-level faults that we diagnose and repair at component level.
Vostro has been replaced – should you replace yours?
From 2025 Dell’s business laptops are sold under the Dell Pro name, which covers the role that Vostro and Latitude used to fill. That doesn’t make your existing laptops obsolete. A Vostro with a newer processor that runs Windows 11 can often keep going for years with a new battery, an SSD or a replacement keyboard, at a fraction of the cost of a new machine. If a laptop really isn’t worth repairing, for example because it can’t run a supported version of Windows, we’ll say so. Usually, yes. We can copy them during the repair, and our in-house data recovery service handles failed drives.
Can you upgrade a Vostro?
Most models take an SSD upgrade, and many have a spare memory slot. We’ll confirm what yours supports when we quote.
