Common MacBook Air faults
- Cracked screen: the thin display on M2 to M5 models cracks easily if something is left on the keyboard when the lid closes.
- Not charging: faulty MagSafe or USB-C ports, or a charging circuit fault on the logic board.
- Battery: poor battery life, sudden shutdowns or a swollen battery lifting the trackpad.
- Liquid damage: spills under the keyboard, which reach the board quickly on a thin laptop.
- No power or no display: usually a logic board fault we can repair at component level.
- Keyboard and trackpad: stuck keys, failed keys or a trackpad that will not click.
Your data stays safe
From the M1 onwards, MacBook Air storage is soldered to the logic board and encrypted. If the board fails, replacing it means losing your files. We repair the original board wherever possible, so your data comes back with your Mac. See Mac data recovery.

Often, yes. Switch it off, do not try to charge it, and bring it in as soon as you can. Quick cleaning greatly improves the chance of a full repair.
