IdeaPads are Lenovo’s everyday laptops for home, study and work, and they’re everywhere. Because they’re affordable, people sometimes assume a fault means buying a new one, but most IdeaPad problems are quick and economical to fix.
Common faults we fix
- Cracked screens – standard, touchscreen and OLED panels, matched to your model.
- Broken hinges – stiff hinges can pull out of the lid or base and crack the plastic around them.
- Not charging – a worn USB-C port, a loose round-pin charger socket on older models, or a charging circuit fault. See DC power jack repair.
- Battery replacement – short run time or a swollen battery.
- Keyboard faults – dead keys and liquid spills; on many models the keyboard is fixed to the palm rest.
- Slow or failing storage – SSD replacement and upgrades, plus Windows repair.
- Won’t power on – board faults diagnosed and repaired at component level.

Older models

Flex convertibles: screens and hinges
The IdeaPad Flex folds back into a tablet, so its hinges and screen take more stress than a normal laptop’s. A touchscreen on a Flex is a combined glass and display unit, so a crack means replacing the whole assembly. We check the hinges at the same time; a hinge that’s working loose often caused the crack in the first place, and replacing only the screen would just lead to the same damage.
Memory and storage on slim models
On most IdeaPad Slim and Pro models the memory is soldered to the motherboard, so it can’t be added to later, but the SSD is usually a removable M.2 drive. That means a storage upgrade is often possible and your files can usually be copied from the old drive if the laptop won’t start. If the drive itself has failed, our laptop data recovery service can help.
