In 2025 HP retired the Pavilion, Envy and Spectre names for its new consumer laptops and moved them under one family: OmniBook. If you bought a new HP laptop for home or study recently, there’s a good chance it’s an OmniBook. These are thin, light machines, often with OLED screens and glued-in parts, so they need careful hands when something goes wrong.
We diagnose every OmniBook for free and give you a fixed quote before we touch anything.
Common faults we fix
- Cracked or flickering OLED screens – thin OLED panels crack easily under pressure in a bag and can develop lines or a green tint after a knock. See our laptop screen repair page.
- Not charging over USB-C – a worn port, a failed charging chip on the board or a faulty adapter. We test each to find the real cause.
- Swollen or fast-draining batteries – often first noticed as a trackpad that won’t click or a lifting base. More on laptop battery replacement.
- Dead after a spill – keyboards on slim laptops sit directly over the board, so drinks reach the electronics quickly.
- No power or no display – we carry out component-level motherboard repair rather than simply swapping the whole board.
- Keyboard and trackpad faults – sticky or dead keys, and haptic or click trackpads that stop responding.
- Windows won’t start – boot loops, failed updates and BitLocker recovery prompts after a repair or BIOS change.
Models we repair
We work on the whole OmniBook range, including Flip 2-in-1 versions:
- OmniBook Ultra and OmniBook X – the premium thin-and-light models, some running Snapdragon X processors
- OmniBook 7 – mid-range models, including the lightweight Aero
- OmniBook 5 – 14- and 16-inch models, many with OLED screens
- OmniBook 3 – everyday laptops for home and study
Processors across the range include Intel Core Ultra, AMD Ryzen AI and Qualcomm Snapdragon X. If you have an older HP, see our HP Pavilion, HP Envy and HP Spectre pages, or the main HP repair page.
OLED screens on thin laptops
OLED gives deep blacks and rich colour, but the panel is a thin layer bonded to its frame. A crack usually spreads, and a screen that has taken a knock can work for a few days and then fail. On some OmniBook models the panel and lid come as one assembly, which changes the parts we need. We’ll confirm the exact part number for your model before quoting, so the price you agree is the price you pay.
Snapdragon models and your files
Many OmniBooks use storage that is encrypted by default with BitLocker. Before any repair that touches the board or storage, make sure you have your recovery key, which is usually saved in your Microsoft account. If the laptop won’t start and you need your files back, our in-house laptop data recovery team can help.
FAQs
Is the OmniBook just a renamed Envy or Pavilion?
It’s HP’s new naming for consumer laptops from 2025, so it covers ground the Pavilion, Envy and Spectre used to. The hardware is new, so parts are model-specific and we always check the exact model first.
Can you replace the battery on an OmniBook?
Yes. The battery is screwed or glued inside the base, so it’s a workshop job, but it’s a routine one for us.
Can I post my laptop to you?
Yes. You can drop it at our Beckenham drop-off centre (by appointment) or use our courier and postal service from anywhere in the UK.
