PCSpecialist laptop repair

PCSpecialist builds laptops to order on chassis from manufacturers such as Clevo and Tongfang, so two machines with the same range name can contain quite different parts. That’s why we start every repair by identifying the exact chassis and components inside yours. Then we fix the fault properly, from a noisy fan to a dead motherboard.

Laptop assessment is £45 + VAT and you’ll get a fixed quote before we begin.

Common faults we fix

  • Overheating and throttling – games stutter or the laptop shuts down under load. Dust, dried thermal paste and worn fans are the usual causes.
  • Graphics faults – artefacts, black screens, or the NVIDIA GPU disappearing from Device Manager.
  • No power or not charging – a loose or burnt power jack, a failed power brick or a charging fault on the board. See DC power jack repair.
  • Broken screen or hinges – high-refresh panels replaced, and cracked hinge mounts rebuilt. See laptop screen repair.
  • Keyboard faults – dead keys or RGB lighting not working after a spill or a firmware update.
  • Motherboard faults – handled at component level; see laptop motherboard repair.
  • Upgrades – more memory, extra or larger NVMe SSDs, and a fresh Windows install.

Models we repair

We repair current and older PCSpecialist laptops across the range, including:

  • Recoil – high-end gaming laptops
  • Ionico – mainstream gaming laptops
  • Octane – performance gaming and workstation-class laptops
  • Lafité – slim everyday and creator laptops
  • Older and custom builds – earlier PCSpecialist ranges and laptops built on Clevo and Tongfang chassis

If you aren’t sure which model you have, the chassis number on the label underneath is all we need. For PCSpecialist desktops, see our gaming PC page.

Heat is the big one

Powerful gaming laptops push a lot of heat through small fans and heatpipes. Over a year or two, dust builds up in the fins and the thermal paste dries out, and temperatures creep up until the machine throttles or shuts down. A proper service means stripping the cooling system, cleaning it, replacing paste and pads with the right thickness, and testing under a sustained load. Running hot for months can also damage the GPU and the board around it, so it’s worth dealing with early.

Upgrades that make sense

Many PCSpecialist laptops have spare memory or SSD slots. Adding memory helps with heavy multitasking and content creation, and a second NVMe drive gives games room without deleting anything. We’ll confirm what your chassis supports before we quote.
