Water, coffee, tea or wine on a MacBook is an emergency, but it is often fixable. Liquid causes corrosion and short circuits on the logic board. The sooner it is cleaned, the better the chance of a full repair with all your data intact.

What to do straight after a spill
- Switch the MacBook off immediately and unplug the charger.
- Do not try to turn it on again or charge it to see if it works.
- Turn it upside down, open in a tent shape, to let liquid drain.
- Do not use rice or a hairdryer. Neither removes corrosion.
- Bring it to us as soon as you can.
How we repair liquid damage
We fully dismantle the MacBook, ultrasonically clean the logic board, then test and replace the components that have been damaged. We also check the keyboard, trackpad, screen and battery, which are often affected too. See logic board repair.
Models we repair
Every MacBook Neo, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, including 2026 models, as well as Intel and older MacBooks. Thin, fanless MacBooks like the MacBook Air and MacBook Neo can hold liquid inside, so they need prompt cleaning.
Frequently asked questions
My MacBook still works after a spill. Should I still bring it in?
Yes. Corrosion keeps developing over days and weeks. A clean now can prevent a much bigger repair later.
Can you save my data after liquid damage?
In most cases, yes. Repairing the board rather than replacing it is what keeps your data.
